When you get Arthur turned on, there’s no going back. Gentleman in the streets and punk rocker in the sheets. He gets really into his books, and when reading aloud will use all kinds of pitches and voices for different characters and situations. Arthur (along with the other British Isles countries,) is an amazing storyteller. His favorite thing to do would be to sit and read to you. He’s not affectionate in public, not at all, but in private he would warm up to you more. It’s really refreshing, but he would hate it because you would always have the urge to grab his arm and walk closely to him because it was so good. He smells like rosemary and mint, and often the pages of a new book when you flip the pages. (I’ve always liked scent headcanons so here!) Arthur has possibly the most intoxicating scent of all the nations. He’s generally really good at homely meals that fill you up during the autumn and winter, but I will guarantee you’ll have to buy bread and dessert because that’s as far as his knowledge goes. He may not be good with pastries, but the man can make some killer roasts and stews. Contrary to both fandom and canon, Arthur actually can cook.
